Yani Allah Teâla bize verdiği cüz’i irade ile bizim neler yapacağımızı bilir.
Peygamberimiz (s.a.v)’in sünneti de sünnetullaha hakkıyla uymak demektir.
Allah bütün kullarına sorumluluğun cüz’i iradeleri gereği kendilerinde olduğunu, kendi kaderlerini sünnetullah karşısında takınacakları tutuma göre kendilerinin belirleyeceğini kitabında açıkça söyler:
“Her insanın sorumluluğunu omuzuna yükledik.
Ve şunu unutmasın ki;
(Arkeolog Albert Glock)
A person digs their own pit!
Human beings are sent into the world with a clean slate and endowed with faculties—such as the intellect, the heart, and the conscience—that have no equal.
Today, thanks to the capabilities of the internet, news from all over the world appears on our screens.
As we watch the news, we reflect on the adversities, grievances, and hardships people endure.
Why do people experience such hardships?
To what extent does divine decree and destiny bind a person?
What role does the individual—whom we perceive as a victim—play in the events that unfold?
Let us state this at the outset:
Destiny belongs to the realm of Divine Knowledge, not Divine Power.
In other words, Allah the Almighty knows what we will do through the partial free will He has granted us.
Therefore, regarding matters that fall within our sphere of responsibility, there is no compulsion imposed upon us that overrides our partial free will.
After these few introductory remarks, I would briefly define destiny from a Muslim perspective as follows.
“The attitude a servant adopts toward *Sunnatullah*—the laws of nature that God has declared will never change (Al-Fath 48:23, Al-Ahzab 33:62, Fatir 35:43, Ghafir 40:85)—determines their destiny.”
It is incumbent upon a Muslim to thoroughly understand the laws of nature (*Sunnatullah*)—each of which is a reflection of one of God’s names—under the guidance of the Holy Quran, which deciphers all the mysteries of the universe; by fully adhering to these laws, one attains happiness in both this world and the Hereafter.
The *Sunnah* of our Prophet (peace be upon him) essentially means adhering properly to *Sunnatullah*.
When this *Sunnah* aligns perfectly and harmonizes with *Sunnatullah*, it leads us to God’s good pleasure.
In reality, the Quran serves as a clear navigation system for this world and the Hereafter.
It indicates your destination and current position based on the path you take and the speed at which you travel.
Enter the coordinates of the path you are following into the Holy Quran and consult it; it will clearly reveal whether your journey will end in Paradise or Hell.
God clearly states in His Book that, by virtue of their partial free will, the responsibility lies with all His servants, and that they determine their own destinies based on the attitude they adopt in the face of *Sunnatullah* (God’s established laws of nature and conduct):
“We have fastened every human being’s responsibility around his neck. On the Day of Resurrection, We will bring forth for him a record which he shall find spread wide open.” (Al-Isra, 17/13)
“Man shall have nothing but what he strives for.” (An-Najm, 53/39)
Look at the news you follow and the events you experience from this perspective!
Do not merely look at the outcome; instead, evaluate the situation holistically—considering the acts of negligence, errors, acts of oppression, and wrongdoings along the path that led people and nations to that result.
When viewed in this light, these events will become true lessons for us.
In that case, if one wishes to derive a lesson from an event, one should interpret it through the lens of one’s own self.
And let no one forget this:
“If you dig into the ground in pursuit of truth in a place built upon lies, after a while, that lie begins to dig a pit for you.” (Archaeologist Albert Glock)
